More phantoms from BW’s past! Now here’s a helpful guide to who you are seeing in the strip this week:
Panel 1: S-13… a scientist that the Countess put to death.
Panel 2: BW’s former supervisor, Herbert Donovan who was put in a coma by Calico... way back in the story Rise Rabbit Rise.
Panel 3: Van Schleiser – This is what happened to him… sort of a bloody mess.
Panel 4: BW’s wife from an arranged marriage, Mio Kurakowa – whom we had last seen at the end of Die Now, Die Later!
Panel 5: Racer Lad – See the Van Schleiser link!
Panel 6: BW’s oldest son
Panels 8&9: Chet from the story Interlewd.
Not Seen: The cast of “Cop Rock”.
Nice color shift on these dream sequences, Jerry. And double-points for the Cop Rock reference. -v
Thanks, Vince… always happy to slip in some obscure reference!
Love the colors and I really like the way you've been slowly adjusting the look of Bunny Wiggins throughout the past few arcs.
Thanks, George! The style shift has been quite intentional. Although the coming stories won't be as cartoony as this, I'm still going with the "flat color" look.
The voices! The voices in Bunny's head!
Some voices inside the head are louder than others!
Great seeing many of your characters return in this sequence.
Thanks, Chris! This is something that I've been wanting to do for awhile. I thought it would be nicely placed between the stories.
They're all just jealous.
That's what BW needs to tell himself !
Cop Rock…I remember that show but luckily never watched
I didn't see it either. It was something that just seemed like a REALLY bad idea!
I think there may be someone in my family that actually enjoyed the show, though!
Despite being asleep, it seems like Bunny Wiggins is getting a wake-up call. I wonder where this is leading? Hmm…
Out of curiosity, do you have a long-term story planned out for Bunny or do you write the individual adventures one after the other and let the events of one story lead you to the next?
I do have a long term story planned out… I even know what the ending will be…. though I'm not sure when exactly that will be. Although this and the previous page seem like a respite from the rest of the story, It isn't. It introduces a major element… Bunny's conscience. Small doubts are creeping in about the path he has chosen. I have had this under wraps for quite awhile.
As I write this, I have nearly completed the next story, "Megalith" (story and art). I have a big chunk of the story following that written out, too. "Megalith", which begins next week – on July 4th-will run eight or nine pages. The story that follows that will be much longer (it may possibly run until the end of 2013), and I think it's probably the best story I've written for BW yet. The seeds of THAT story were planted 3/4 of the way through "Die Now, Die Later" and during "Snapdragon".
So short story long… I am not leading everyone down a long, pointless path. There may be some detours here and there, but it will always return to the main road.
No one will ever remember them???
I will never forget you Big V!!! And neither will Mike, Carol, Greg, Marsha, Peter, Jan, Bobby, Cindy or Alice.
